How to prepare for a missions trip:
1. Forget everything you know about being a missionary
2. Tell God you can do this (like He needs to know)
3. Ask for support from anyone you know, or think you know, or just complete stranger
4. Pack then repack again
5. Learn everything you need to know about their culture
6. Pack toilet paper... Lots of toilet paper
7. Remember your passport
8. Clean underware is a plus
9. Remember scripture
10. Forget the list... fall on your knees and as God to give you the strength to do His will, ask Him to bless you so you in return bless the people among you, ask for His wisdom, ask Him to give you the words to speak, and finally thank Him for allowing you to to His work!!!

Have you ever sat back and looked at what God is doing in your life..... Really sit back and see God's hand in your life? It is hard to do that when you are in the mist of the storm... And all you can see is the problem and no end to the waves come crashing down upon you.... I was in that spot two months ago... God was calling me to wait to let him deal with the storm and I would see his prefect hand... See his perfect timing!!!! When you wait on The Lord, It gives Him a chance to work behind the events of your life... He is building you up to do His great wonders!!! And when he finally lets you stand and begin to walk again you get an understanding that he is in control and His plan is better than you will ever know!!!

When I became a Christian in 2005, God gave me a
heart for missions. He has taken a broken, scared, little girl and turned her
into a woman of true faith. The last two years He has built my faith and my
ability to see the need of the gospel to be spread throughout the world. I had
to learn to give myself completely to God’s command and to lean on Him for
understanding and not my own. It was the hardest, but rewarding time of my life. My
heart’s desire has always been Africa, and to teach young women and children
the gift of sewing. Now God has given me the possibility to grow more in my
faith by serving others.
Three weeks ago God spoke through a wise woman
who asked me “why could I not go into missions by myself?” And when I asked God
for wisdom on this: He opened the door wide… I will be leaving June 1, 2014 to
go to Uganda for a year. Things that I thought would be mountains have
started to dissolve away!!! This is all due to God. I will be going to a
village called Bukaya which is 20mins from a town called Jinija. Tripe country
is Buganda. I will be working and living in Sarah’s Heart for Second Chances
Home.
Sarah’s Heart for Second Chances Home is a place
where children can come to get a second chance at life. They bring in children
and give them a place to stay, and through support of sponsor, they get a
second chance at an education. Sarah provides food, shelter, love of Christ, and
education to these children. I am very blessed to be able to go and work with
Sarah and her family to grown the next generation.
I will be bringing my daughter Chesney, who will
have ten other children to play with. While there I will be teaching the kids
how to sew, cook, running the stock for the gift shop, administrating kids
files and looking for support and sponsors for the kids, doing teaching on
primary level, teaching home management to the older girls, organizing
functions and other work in the gardening and farming.
